A Hamiltonian Formulation of Qedss 1 on the Light Cone

چکیده

It is shown that an improper regularization in the light-cone quantization of field theories can introduce a violation of rotational invariance as well as spurious divergences. Several methods are developed to avoid or cure these problems, as required for a consistent renormalization procedure of gauge theories. Based on these methods, the light-cone Hamiltonian for &E&+1 is constructed. Extension to gauge theories in 3+1 physical dimensions is also described.

Renormalization in light–cone gauge: how to do it in a consistent way

We summarize several basic features concerning canonical equal time quantization and renormalization of Yang–Mills theories in light–cone gauge. We describe a “two component” formulation which is reminiscent of the light– cone hamiltonian perturbation rules. Finally we review the derivation of the one–loop Altarelli–Parisi densities, using the correct causal prescription on the “spurious” pole....

Nonperturbative Calculation of Scattering Amplitudes

A method for the nonperturbative calculation of scattering amplitudes and cross sections is discussed in the context of light-cone quantization. The Lanczos-based recursion method of Haydock is suggested for the computation of matrix elements of the resolvent for the light-cone Hamiltonian, from which the T -matrix can be constructed. The scattering of composite particles is handled by a genera...

We give a simple derivation of the Higgs phenomenon in an abelian light front gauge theory. It is based on a finite-volume quantization with antiperiodic scalar fields and periodic gauge field. An infinite set of degenerate vacua in the form of coherent states of the scalar field, that minimize the light front energy, is constructed. The corresponding effective Hamiltonian describes a massive v...

Hamiltonian analysis of interacting fluids

Ideal fluid dynamics is studied as a relativistic field theory with particular stress on its hamiltonian structure. The Schwinger condition, whose integrated version yields the stress tensor conservation, is explicitly verified both in equal-time and light-cone coordinate systems. We also consider the hamiltonian formulation of fluids interacting with an external gauge field. The complementary ...

Light Front Quantisation as an Initial-Boundary Value Problem

In the light front quantisation scheme initial conditions are usually provided on a single lightlike hyperplane. This, however, is insufficient to yield a unique solution of the field equations. We investigate under which additional conditions the problem of solving the field equations becomes well posed. The consequences for quantisation are studied within a Hamiltonian formulation by using th...
